Catenoid-Helicoid Deformation
This deformation shows the impressive isometrical deformation of the
catenoid
into the
helicoid.
The catenoid is the so called "conjugate surface" of the
helicoid. Therefore both surfaces have the same Gauss map. As members of
the associated family only the catenoid and the helicoid have no
self-intersections (they are embedded).
For a very long time the catenoid an the helicoid were the only known
complete and embedded minimal surfaces.
The input file name of this deformation is catenoid.am.
First you have to compute the catenoid and then you have to display the
associated family to watch this deformation.
