Limitations of the Implementation

In the current implementation the GRAPE XDR functions uses a global hash table to store references, therefore it is not possible to use more than one XDR stream at a time. If you try this a stream might contain references to an object with is only contained in another stream, on reading this will result in errors.

Data compression is experimental at the moment (using an external program like gzip), it will probably be available in the next library version. We still consider using an internal compression since using fork and pipes will not work on all platforms.
